Popty Bakery

Popty Bakery is situated in Llanllechid on the outskirts of Bethesda. Set in the Snowdonia National Park, Bethesda has become a tourist attraction for climbers, ramblers and anyone looking to spend time surrounded by beautiful scenery and fresh country air.

At the beginning of the 1900’s, O.J. Williams opened a small bakery in the hills of Llanllechid. It still stands today, only now it has a 3000sq/ft steel structure extension. The business was passed on from O.J. Williams to his son Arthur who later sold it to his nephew and current Managing Director Gwyn Williams. Over the years, our business has seen growth from the early days of direct supply to residential customers, to a wholesale supplier of shops and caterers across Wales. Following market trends we’ve revised our product range to focus mainly on traditional Welsh Cakes and Bara Brith.
